Why Am I Here?

My name is Emily. I am an eighteen-year-old freshman in college, studying elementary education. I graduated in the desert of Arizona, and I love being with my family, reading, singing, and playing with my dog.
Sounds like a pretty normal girl, right?
I am also a licensed cosmetologist.
Every schoolday of my junior and senior year of high school, I took a bus downtown after lunch to learn the art, theory, and technicalities of beauty.

I have been trained and certified in:
Chemical Texture Services
Haircutting
Basic Nail Services
Eyebrow Waxing
Basic Facials
Haircolor
Hairstyling

It was two long, hard years! I definitely had my fair share of moments in the bathroom crying in frustration or nervousness. But I had wonderful teachers, Ms. Brabb and Mrs. Boggs who pushed me and encouraged me, and made me love hair!

I finished beauty school in July, and very recently took the necessary tests to become certified, and I am now waiting (too long) to be sent my actual license card. Once I have it I will be able to get a job in a hair salon!
It's all very exciting.

I created this blog to share with you my love of hair and beauty

God made us so many beautiful things to lay our eyes upon.
But the most magnificent of all His creations, the one he saved for last?

Human beings. His very children.

Specifically women.

Many women don't realize their beauty.
My job as a cosmetologist is to help them realize it.
Be it with a new haircut that frames their face, an eyeshadow shade that makes their green eyes pop, or a manicure that just makes them feel fresh and pretty, I love to see the look on people's faces when I finish a service, and they look in the mirror, happy with what they see. That brings me satisfaction.

So please enjoy my occasional tutorials, product reviews, and just straight up rants.
Okay, I've had enough touchy-feely emotionaly talk for one day. Please click on another page.
